Sunday was a low key day. Actually our entire weekend was pretty low key and seesawed between grumpy and mellow attitudes. I’m not sure what was off, but by Sunday evening, I was ready to put the boys to bed a little early and just sit with Josh and relax. Because we have the meal schedule of an 80 year old couple and had already eaten dinner with the boys before 6pm, we opted to do a picnic dessert date. We kept it very simple and just laid our picnic blanket on the floor of our sunporch, propped up some pillows, sipped coffee and chewed on strawberry shortcake. We kept it so simple that I didn’t even make the cake (thank you Sara Lee for sharing your goodness).
I think my favorite part of the date was getting to talk with Josh about his work projects. Josh is a very driven, smart and forward thinking guy and I love hearing about the how, why and when of his creative ventures. I’m completely in awe of his ability to put together an idea in his head and then make it happen. {have you ever used Inkstagram? He made that…although he recently sold it} He’s so so creative, but even better, he’s completely hilarious and makes me laugh, like really belly laugh. We talked about old dates we’d gone on (before marriage and kids), how life has changed in so many good ways and how we want our future to look.
While we usually get a date night once a week (thanks to our sweet babysitter) we plan on keeping our home dates. Nothing’s better than a no-stress, stay at home date.
